Abstract

This chapter describes the motor complications of advanced Parkinson disease and their probable pathogenesis and line of management. Motor complications may be the resultant of the disease process itself or its treatment. Management is difficult and includes drug modification, use of dopa agonists, catechol-o-methyl transferase inhibitors with a view to increase the half life of dopa and in poorly responsive cases, the consideration of stereotaxic surgery and neural transplantation of stem cells may be the future line of management.
