This chapter is useful for the pediatricians particularly since Hallervorden–Spatz syndrome is an important differential diagnosis of Wilson disease. The underlying genetic defect has been found and intense research is going on to find out a good chelating agent to remove iron from the brain similar to Wilson disease.
