Abstract

This chapter actually deals primarily with defect in coordination due to cerebellar and its connection. Primarily cerebellar involvement is not in the true sense belong to movement disorders, but involvement of cerebellum may be part of other movement disorders such as multiple system atrophy, DRPLA, autosomal dominant spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs) such as Machado-Joseph disease and metabolic disease such as Wilson disease. This chapter has provided clues to approach a case of ataxia and achieve to a provisional diagnosis. Method of investigation has also been dealt with. Since autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxias is a heterogeneous group and dealt primarily by neurologist and geneticist, a list of SCA conditions have also been mentioned.
