Abstract

Epidural anaesthesia is obtained following injection of local anaesthetic drug in the epidural space. It is used to provide surgical anaesthesia and/or postoperative analgesia. Bolus doses of local anaesthetic drug are mostly used for intraoperative analgesia. But for postoperative analgesia, the catheter technique is used for infusion or intermittent injection.
