A clear understanding of the specific anatomical, physiological, pharmacological and psychological factors is needed to provide safe anaesthesia to paediatric patients. Fluid and blood product management, airway management and pain management needs special attention. Paediatric breathing circuits and anaesthesia equipment should be carefully adopted depending on the status of the child.
