Abstract

A subject with Body Mass Index (BMI) more than 30 is said to be obese. If BMI is greater than 35, the subject is morbidly obese. BMI = Body weight in Kg/height in m2. Obesity is a condition of excessive body fat with adverse health implications, more so to increase the anaesthetic risk and hazards. These patients need a careful preanaesthetic assessment and monitoring; and adequate consideration should be taken for safe anaesthesia.
