Abstract

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is mostly for the treatment of cardiac arrest. This systematic therapy is aimed to sustain vital organ function until resuscitation of natural cardiac function. Basic life support involves establishing and maintaining patency of the upper airways, providing ventilation through periodic lung inflations and promoting circulations with chest compressions. Advanced cardiac life support includes measure of ventilatory support, haemodynamic support with drugs and cardiac rhythm support by defibrillation.
