Abstract

The knowledge of DNA structure, its replication, transcription and translation is essential to understand the genetic mechanisms and behavior of genes. Transmission of genetic material from one generation to the other is vulnerable to natural errors occurring at meiosis and mitosis. The genome is also known to be affected by environmental agents like chemical agents and ionizing radiation. Different types of mutation can occur, leading to a variety of clinical disorders.
