The Critical Care in Obstetrics is an attempt to guide practicing obstetricians to deal with obstetrics emergencies. The pregnancy induced maternal physiologic changes added together with pathophysiological changes of critical illness that makes their management extremely complex. Treating these rare emergencies is a challenge. The book deals with all aspects of the management of critically ill pregnant women, covering common illnesses requiring critical care such as amniotic fluid embolism, disseminated intravascular coagulation, systemic lupus erythematosus, trauma and burn injuries, sepsis, massive obstetric hemorrhage, thyroid and parathyroid emergencies, acute renal failure in pregnancy, severe pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, and fatty liver disorder with jaundice in pregnancy. This book also deals with care of the fetus in a critically ill gravida as well as care of baby born to critically ill mothers. Special attention has been given to anesthetic management of critically ill obstetric patient and procedures such as airway and ventilation.
