Abstract

Reporting is an important principle of accurate documentation of the smear and a diagnostic language for Pap test. An accurate cytologic diagnosis of disease is both possible and desirable; therefore the customer care reports should be expressed in simple language that can be readily understood by the clinician. The classification in current use is Papanicoleau, Richart’s CIN, WHO Classification and Bethesda System. A thorough understanding of all methods is necessary and will enable comparison. It is necessary to move from older and newer classifications. These methods are both for Conventional and Liquid Based Cytology.
