Abstract

A potential antiglaucoma agent needs thorough screening that can be done using in vitro and in vivo experimental models. To study the mechanism of glaucoma and the efficacy of the antiglaucoma agent, animal models mimicking human forms of glaucoma are used. Elevated intraocular pressure is one of the important risk factors. The change in intraocular pressure in experimental animal eyes can be carried out easy. The chapter describes various methods including alpha chymotrypsin induced, water loaded, laser induced and cell culture techniques.
