Abstract

Considering the urgent need for safer, cheap and effective anti-HIV drugs, in-vitro and in-vivo screening methods are being employed for discovery and development of anti-retroviral drugs and vaccines. Chimpanzees, pigtailed macaques, Baboons, Rhesus macaques, SCID mice, Hu-PBL-SCID mice, Human-CBL-nSCID mice, U-937-SCID mice are some of the in-vivo models that are being used. Mono Mac 1, Human lymphocyte CEM, MT-4, Murine C3H-3T3 embryo fibroblast, human PBMC cell lines are some of the in-vitro model systems that are being employed.
