Abstract

In 1991, Judah Folkman, was the first to propose that tumor growth and metastasis correlate with the extent of angiogenesis or vasculogenesis. Tissue excision, sponge implant, matrigel, disc assay are some of the model systems that are currently being used. Hamster cheek pouch, cornea micropocket, mesentery model, chamber and rat dorsal air sac, chick chorioallantoic membrane models provide important information while screening of drugs.
