Development of newer agents for fertility control by preventing the fertility by interfering with several normal reproductive mechanisms is essential in developing nations. An ideal contraceptive should be 100% effective, safe, and easy to use; its effect would be reversible. It should be aesthetically and personally acceptable by all. It should be affordable, readily available and legal. Finally it should be appropriate for use at all stages of reproduction. As yet, no single method of contraception meet all of these criteria, but each of the presently available methods meets at least a few, and some methods meet many of them.
