Cost accounting establishes the actual cost of operations, processes, departments and product. It determines current costs, estimates future costs and revenues and helps to canalize investments. Cost allocation helps to trace out the expenses to user departments and aids in pricing of the services rendered. The resulting data thus collected can be used to measure performance which will determine where to focus their operational improvement.
