The second edition of Medical-surgical nursing is designed to assist nurses in preparing for their roles and responsibilities within the health care system. A goal of this book is to provide balanced attention to the art and science of nursing related to the medical and surgical conditions of adult patient care. The title focuses on the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestation and management of different disorders of each system. Throughout the text particular emphasis has been placed on addressing the nursing care and health care needs. This title organized into 22 chapters. First chapter covering brief history of medicine and nursing in India. Second chapter deals with concepts of nursing process and its applications since it is the basis for all nursing practice. Third chapter the common problems of adult patient are discussed. Fourth chapter discuss the human genetics and genomic nursing. Fifth chapter deals with immunological problem and their nursing. Remaining most of the chapter discuss the adult health conditions that are treated medically or surgically. Each and every chapter presented with management of specific disorders, including etiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations assessment and diagnosis findings, medical management, nursing management and nursing care plans for selected medical and surgical conditions. Emphasis has been given to special chapter throughout the text, organized accordingly to clarify the nurse’s responsibility in caring patients. The special feature of this book included the chapter on human genetics and genomic nursing perioperative nursing, critical care nursing, oncological nursing and also nursing care plans provided for selected disorders will illustrate how the nursing process applied to reach client health care needs and nursing needs.
