by Khalid Mahmood

This atlas is a treasure of radiological images from a wide spectrum of diseased patients. The existence of this compilation of > 700 images bears evidence to the fact that in this age of advanced imaging the simple plain radiograph still stands tall and firm. Alongside there are also some CT Scan and MRI. There has been an effort to cover a wide spectrum of diseases from the very common to rare pathologies. For clarity the atlas is divided into sections on Pulmonology, Cardiology, Musculoskeletal System, Abdomen, Barium Studies, IVP, CT Scan and MRI Brain. The representation of prevalent disease pattern as well as salient radiological features at the beginning of each chapter would be helpful to undergraduate and postgraduate students of Medicine. Moreover disease presentations of individual diseases prevalent in South Asia with the help of multiple X-rays demonstrates the myriad ways in which each disease may be encountered. In this age of increased traveling and population shifts the simple x-ray can provide an eye opener for those who have only read of diseases prevalent in this part of the world. Therefore, this atlas is valuable locally as well across continents where these diseases are less frequently seen. Lastly table of differential diagnosis and causes of various radiological features would be helpful to students of medicine.
