Abstract

Section contains large collection of Plain abdominal films, CT SCANS and IVP’S of various abdominal pathologies. Plain abdominal images depict radiological signs of renal, ureteric stones (Radiolucency, radio-opacity), renal dystrophy (cortical calcifications) and tuberculous auto nephrectomy (multiple rings of calcified kidney with proximal ureter). Ruptured liver abscess with prominent radiological signs (pneumoperitoneum, pneumointestinalis), pancreatic calcifications, small bowel obstruction (multiple air fluid levels in upper central, both para colic gutters and iliac fossae) and necrotizing fasciitis (subcutaneous emphysema with ruptured pyocele of the gall bladder) are shown on plain abdominal films. Plain and contrast CT scans provide valuable radiographic information about hepatic metastasis (irregular multiple hypodense and hypoechoic areas), adult polycystic kidney disease, ruptured liver abscess (large walled off collection of pus in the abdomen), portal vein thrombosis (filing defect in portal area) and dermoid cyst (bilateral fat attenuation lesions with calcific densities). Section includes intravenous pyelograms depicting radiodiagnostic features of different types of pyelonephritis (acute, chronic and emphysematous). IV pyelograms of enlarged prostate, urinary diverticulum, hydronephrosis, bilateral renal calculi, horseshoe kidney, genitourinary tuberculosis, tuberculous auto nephrectomy are also shown. IV cystogram shows radiographic view of urinary bladder obstruction.
