Abstract

This chapter discusses decision making. Decision can be defined as “the process of choosing among alternatives, such as affiliating with more doctors so as to receive more patients’ referrals.” Programmed decision making is repetitive in nature and taken on routine basis and made according to the specific procedure. A number of qualitative techniques are used for the purpose of qualitative decision making. The sales forecast is usually the primary planning document for business. Even if the general economy is robust the organization needs a promising sales forecast for its decision making. The managers and workers often use Pareto diagram to identify the most important problem or causes of problems that affect output quality.
