This chapter discusses staffing. Staffing in management involves filling, and keeping filled, the position in the organization structure. This is done by recruitment, development, maintenance and utilization of work force. The staffing is a subsystem of the management system. The staffing is a system in itself having various components, what we can call as subsystems. The recruitment is the process of attracting the candidates with the right characteristics and skills to fit a job in the organization. The job description explains in detail what the job holder is supposed to do. Physical examination is commonly known as medical examination. If we recruit a person with a known chronic disease we might be inviting a long term liability for the organization.
