Abstract

The poisons in daily use may be conveniently dealt with in three groups, (i) domestic or household poisons, (ii) poisoning by medicine, and (iii) food poisoning. Some of the common domestic poisons in India, discussed here under two heads: (i) Hydrocarbons and (ii) Other than hydrocarbons: Dishwashing powders and granules, dishwashing liquids, household detergents, disinfectants, metal polishes, cosmetics. Domestic poisoning is not very common with these compounds. However, industrial exposure is common with them.
