This chapter discusses legal medical procedures. Inquest, magistrate inquest, police inquest, courts of law, subpoena or summons, conduct money, medical evidence, types of witness, recording of evidence, and conduct and duties of a doctor in the witness box, are some topics discussed in detail. Exceptions to oral evidence include dying declaration, expert opinions expressed in a treatise, deposition of a medical witness taken in lower court, report of certain government scientific experts, evidence given by a witness in a previous judicial proceeding, and public records. Cross-examination is the examination of a witness by the adverse party to elicit facts favorable to his case, to test the accuracy of the statements made by the witness, to modify or explain what has been said, and to develop new or old facts.
