Reconstructive ear surgery has undergone many phases from the crude ancient techniques to the modern era of sophisticated micro-ear surgery, Each phase had surgeons who were always in search for an ideal reconstructive material: The Graft. 1640-Banzar: Made the first attempt to reconstruct and repair the ear drum using Pig\'s bladder membrane. 1841-Yearsley: Used a moist cotton ball to improve hearing in a perforated drum; by covering the round window from phase interference. 1853-Toynbee: Introduced “artificial membrane tympanic”, i.e. a rubber disc with silver wire. 1878-Berthold: Did the first Myringoplasty using thick skin graft.
