Jaw swellings are classified in to those arising from mucoperiosteum (epulis), from tooth germ (odontoma), jaw tumors and inflammatory swellings. This chapter gives brief description of various types of epulis and odontoma. The benign as well as malignant jaw tumors are described in detail with help of X-rays, clinical photographs and comparative charts. Various types of inflammatory jaw swellings are described and mode of spread of infection in pericoronitis is explained with a flow chart. In the end, method of clinical examination of maxilla and mandible is described.
