The organization of digestive tract, the enteric nervous system, the digestive secretions, digestive enzymes and the regulation of their secretions have been dealt with in a concise manner. The mechanism of the gastrointestinal motility, functions of accessory digestive organs namely liver, pancreas, gall bladder have also been described. The digestion and absorption of food and energy balance are also explained.
