This chapter mainly explains the synthesis of purine nucleotides like IMP, AMP and GMP. The catabolism of purine nucleotides results in uric acid. Disturbance in the purine nucleotide metabolism results in Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. The UMP, CMP and TMP are the pyrimidine nucleotides.
