Abstract

Spinal tuberculosis constitutes about 50% of all cases of osteoarticular tuberculosis. Though most common during first 3 decades, clinically manifest disease can be seen starting at any age form one year to 80 years. Usual clinical features in active stage of disease are local pain and tenderness, malaise, loss of weight, loss of appetite, night sweats and evening rise of temperature. Clinically the spine may show a small knuckle kyphosis or an angular kyphosis. The commonest site of start of disease is paradiscal part of 2 adjacent vertebral bodies or rarely from posterior elements.
