Abstract

In the developing half of world almost all people get infected with mycobacterial organisms. Only about 3% show clinically manifest active disease. Development of osteoarticular TB is a slow process as compared to pulmonary TB. The involved bones undergo hyperemia, demineralization, softening, collapse and deformation. Most of the lesions develop cold abscess of variable sizes, and the abscess may present at a distance from the basic lesion. TB associated with implants and therapeutically refractory disease is a challenge to treatment.
