Abstract

In endemic areas characteristic clinical, radiological and MRI pictures are adequate to make diagnosis of spinal tuberculosis in a large majority. However despite the availability of modern imaging modalities in 5 to 10 percent of cases the diagnosis of exact pathology warrants a biopsy of the disease vertebral bones and submitting the material for histological, microbiological and serological investigations. Much non-tuberculous pathology may mimic picture of spinal tuberculosis.
