Bone is said to be a big whirlpool of metabolic activity, this in turn is significantly governed by endocrinal system. Changes in the feet are less pronounced as compared to that in other parts of the skeleton. Metabolic diseases like, rickets, osteomalacia, scurvy, osteoporosis-diffuse and localised (Sudeck’s), hypervitaminosis A, D are discussed. Fluorosis, a rare toxic disease is endemic in some parts of India, and occurs due to high percentage of fluoride in drinking water. Sclerosis, ligamentous calcification and enthesopathy are the features. Amongst endocrinal lesions, acromegaly, gigantism, hyperthyroidism, hyper and hypoparathyroidism and Cushing’s syndrome produce specific changes in the feet, apart from other parts of skeleton, have been described with illustrations. Iatrogenic conditions like osteonecrosis, acroosteolysis do occur, after corticosteroid and Dilantin therapy respectively.
