Primary bone tumours are rare in the foot. Luckily most of the primary bone tumours of the foot are benign. They have been broadly classified on the basis of histogenesis. Amongst the rarities, only commoner entities are being mentioned here: (a) Bone forming tumours—Osteoma and osteoid osteoma are common, (b) Cartilage forming—Osteochondroma and enchondroma, (c) Fibrous tissue tumours—Non-ossifying fibroma and fibro-cortical defect, both are very rare in foot, (d) Vascular and reticuloendothelial—hemangioma, mostly in calcaneus, (e) Osteoclastic—Osteoclastoma, (f) Tumour-like lesions—this is an interesting category, simple bone cyst and aneurismal bone cyst are classical. These are described, with interesting illustrations of above mentioned lesions.
