Abstract

The combined surgery of penetrating keratoplasty, cataract extraction, and lens implantation, i.e. the triple procedure is an accepted modality of treatment of choice for patients of visually disabling corneal opacification and associated cataract. Removal of cataract and implantation of an intraocular lens, if performed simultaneously with penetrating keratoplasty surgery not only offers immediate postoperative visual improvement but also precludes the need of another major intraocular surgery for cataract in future that may jeopardize the graft.
