Abstract

Pulmonary embolism leads to infarction in the affected part. In 30% of cases the chest x-ray is normal. High quality chest x-ray and CT scan images reveal the pulmonary embolism, the signs seen on chest x-rays are also discussed. Pulmonary V/Q scan are used when there are equivocal results with chest x-rays and CT scans. Pulmonary angiography is the gold standard in diagnosing pulmonary embolism.
