Abstract

Normal radiological hilum is formed by pulmonary artery, upper lobe veins and bronchus but not by lower lobe veins. The left hilum is 2.5 cms higher than the right, as left pulmonary artery passes above the bronchus. High quality chest x-rays depicting irregular hilar masses, calcified lymph nodes; left hilar nodes with breast carcinoma are shown and discussed. CT scan is a better modality to assess the hilum and mediastinum.
