Abstract

Lung involvement is more common with primary (local) amyloidosis than secondary (systemic) amyloidosis. Chest x-rays are mostly normal in local amyloidosis. CT scan is more sensitive and shows tracheobronchial luminal irregular narrowing, thickening and calcifications of walls of the airway and soft tissue shadows in airway lumen. Pleural or open lung biopsies are confirmatory.
