Abstract

In this chapter we present experiences with the functional, nonsurgical treatment of segmental fractures of the tibia. Emphasis is placed on the import of limiting this treatmt modality to fractures that experience originally an acceptable degree of shortening and a correctable angulation. We submit that the segmental nature of the fracture does not preclude a behavior similar to that observed in fractures without a segmental component.
