Abstract

In this chapter we discussed briefly the occasional indications for the nonsurgical treatment of the femoral diaphysis. Surgical care is the most accepted method of care but there are ties when surgery cannot or should no be carried out. Under those circumstances functional bracing, following a period of bed rest and skeletal traction, becomes the most appropriate approach. The importance of the level of the fracture and possible resulting deformities are discussed.
