In this copter we illustrate angular deformity, particularly the varus one, which is the most ubiquitous one. The deformity is often created at the time of application of the sling because through an unconscious mechanism the shoulder is shrugged at that time. After the shoulder relaxes, following the completion of the procedure the bone angulates. This problem is easily prevented by assuring that the shoulder is not shrugged during the casting, bracing, and sling application. Subsequently, extension of the elbow should be encouraged in order to introduce corrective gravity forces. Obese patients, extremely muscular men, and women with large breasts are the ones most likely top experience angular deformities.
