Abstract

An artifact is an abnormal appearing false finding in an image and is unrelated to the patient. It is a ghost appearance and in reality does not exist. In CT scans various types of artifacts can occur, the radiologist should recognize them to avoid making mistakes. The classification of artifacts like angulation artifact, motion artifact, ring artifact, partial volume artifact and streak artifact has been discussed with CT images of artifacts.
