Abstract

Schizophrenia is the most common of all psychiatric disorders and is prevalent in all cultures across the world. This chapter covers etiology, psychopathology, clinical features, clinical types, treatment modalities, course and prognosis of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. The author has exercised care to include nursing interventions for each symptom of schizophrenia using the nursing process approach thus giving an impetus to the clinical aspect. As the geriatric population is steadily on the rise an account of geriatric consideration for schizophrenia has also been made.
