Abstract

Root lesion may also give rise to sensory symptoms paresthesia like tingling numbness exactly similar to that of peripheral nerve lesion exception to this generality where pain is the predominant symptom is seen in C5, C6, C7, C8, T1 Root lesions. In median nerve lesion at the wrist pain may accompany paraesthesia and ulnar nerve may mimic C8 lesion. Brachial neuritis: Pain C5/C6/C7 dermatomes, wasting, weakness of muscles of shoulder abduction, biceps, shoulder adduction. Cervical rib associated abnormalities scoliosis, thoracoplasty. Weakness wasting abductor pollicis brevis. Vascular symptoms due to embolisation of brachial artery—Raynauds phenomenon in fingers EMG/NCV helps in providing sensible differential diagnosis in situations such as root lesion and peripheral nerve lesion.
