Abstract

In this technique anterior chamber maintainer is not used. Side port entry is never required as a routine procedure. It is simple and effective method of delivery of nucleus even for rock hard cataracts. It combines mechanical and hydrostatic forces to express out the nucleus. In this forward pressure is applied gently and at the same time minimal amount of depression of sclera is done by the shaft of the vectis. It has virtually nil learning curve, easy to perform, repeatable, cost effective and does not require bimanual technique and give fairly excellent result. Despite longer incision, it achieves watertight, self sealing sutureless wound in all cases. In term of technique and quality, it is an alternative to phacoemulsification in expert hands.
