Abstract

Funds are an important part of doing research. Much of drug and device research in the world today is funded by the pharmaceutical industry. However, many governmental agencies provide sufficient funds for investigator initiated research. In India, the prominent agencies include the Indian Council of Medical Research, the Department of Biotechnology, the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of AYUSH. The latter provides funds for research in Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, Naturopathy and Siddha Medicine. Funding via the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana and the Indian Council of Medical Research is also available for undergraduate students’ research.
