Abstract

Spine is the second most affected site of tuberculosis after lungs. Vertebral tuberculosis comprises almost 50% of all musculoskeletal tuberculosis. Amongst the different regions in the spine, thoracic and thoracolumbar regions are most commonly affected. The anterior column is affected in 98% of these cases. These patients develop varying degrees of kyphotic deformity, and 10 to 47% may develop neurological complications.
