Abstract

Urinary incontinence is the inability to control the leakage of urine and is a common problem in women than in men. Even though urinary incontinence is not life-threatening, it is a distressing symptom which can severely compromise the quality of a woman\'s life. Majority of women who have symptoms do not care to seek medical advice because they consider it as an inevitable part of child birth and ageing. To deal with the problem, most of them rely on absorbent pads or changes in lifestyle. Some women may feel ashamed or depressed or may even avoid social or work events. They think that nothing can be done to correct it. After appropriate investigations if the correct surgical or medical therapy is resorted to, most women can be cured and the condition of the rest can be improved.
