Abstract

PID refers to spectrum of infection involving upper genital tract. The common causative organisms are N. Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Acute PID is diagnosed with minimum, additional and elaborate criteria and must be treated fully to prevent chronic PID. Epidemiology, risk factor, prevention, diagnostic criteria, investigation modalities, and outpatient, inpatient treatment guideline have been detailed in chapter. Genital tract tuberculosis is very common in developing country and one of the major causes of menstrual abnormality and infertility. Mode of spread, organ wise pathology, clinical and investigation diagnosis and management protocol in genital tuberculosis is described with the help of table, boxes, illustration and photographs.
