Abstract

Infertility primary or secondary, affect 10–15% of couples and can cause personal, psychosocial, emotional stress. Male and female factors both have to be evaluated and managed. Male factor evaluation constitutes mainly semen analysis, and in selected cases, hormonal, ultrasound, cyto-histological evaluation. Basic female factors evaluation are testing for ovulation, fallopian tube patency, and uterine factors, details of which have been described in the chapter. Ultrasound follicle monitoring, HSG and laparoscopy with hormone profile are important method of female evaluation. Treatment is guided by evaluation results. Life style modifications, ovulation induction, tubal surgery, fertility enhancing surgery, and intrauterine insemination (IUI) are possible treatment options. In selected cases ART should be offered with explanation of its limitation as well success.
