Abstract

Normal labor is defined in which fetus presents by vertex, begins spontaneously at term, and terminates naturally without artificial aid and complications. Aims and objectives of optimum intranatal care is concised in the chapter followed by description of physiopharmacolgy of labor, dimensions and disposition of fetal parts especially fetal skull and female pelvis. Admission protocol and maternal and fetal monitoring, partogram, active vs traditional management of labor and conduct of labor are detailed in the chapter. Clinical profile of mother in various stages of labor, live photographs and line diagrams are asset of the chapter.
