Abstract

Refractive surgery is defined as a permanent change in the refractive status of the eye by means of surgical intervention. The normal human eye has two main refractive structures: the cornea and the lens. Changes in the refractive power of the cornea are common, but we still cannot make changes in the power of natural lens, rather we can replace it. This is called refractive cataract surgery. Refractive surgery is not a routine practice for people younger than 18, but it still can be done in children. The two indications for Refractive surgery in children are anisometropia and accommodative esotropia. Corneal Refractive Surgery and implantation of Phakic IOLs are the common methods of refractive surgery, and phakic IOL is more promising. The IOL used are the ICL and ARTISAN.
