Abstract

Glaucoma in children is a different entity and it requires considerable clinical skills and compassion in an ophthalmologist to evaluate such cases. Infantile glaucoma results from genetic causes, trauma, due to ocular inflammation, following cataract surgery (aphakic/Pseudophakic glaucoma), malformations of the eye. Diagnosing a child with glaucoma requires considerable skill and awareness on the part of ophthalmologist. The signs and symptoms are to be carefully looked. The examination of the eye is also done under anaesthesia. When conducting the examination intraocular pressure is checked, corneal and anterior segment evaluation is done, along with posterior segment evaluation, gonioscopy, and ultrasound is also done. These examinations are necessary for the surgeon to make a reasonable diagnosis in a patient with glaucoma.
